The rumors are true; we’ve packed our bags and we’re heading to slightly less green pastures. (They couldn’t possibly be greener than the 1802 House gardens, which we may miss the most!) The time has come for us to bid farewell to the inn that we’ve called home for the last few years. This is a bittersweet goodbye for us as we’re excited to take on our next big adventure back home in the UK, but we couldn’t leave without saying thank you!
The past three and a half years have been an absolute whirlwind and we are so incredibly grateful to every single guest who came to stay, or supported us from afar. Running an inn through a global pandemic was not the adventure we pictured when we took over in 2019, but we wouldn’t change a thing. We were able to meet some wonderful people, become part of a fabulous community of other innkeepers in the area, and leave our own imprint on this gorgeous little piece of Kennebunkport history.
We’ll keep this short and sweet as those of you who have come to know us will know that’s what we do best. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support over the past few years- and worry not! The 1802 House is still in very good hands and the new owner will introduce herself soon, I’m sure. Until then, we hope your memories of the 1802 House are as wonderful as ours. Be sure to visit again, we’ll leave the kettle on for you.
All of our best wishes,
Eileen and Carl (and Annie)
